Women at Calvary - the women's ministry at Calvary of Albuquerque

Monthly Outreaches

The Women at Calvary are dedicated to reaching out to our community and beyond, therefore, we hold a different outreach each month. Our local outreaches include women's shelters, crisis centers, and prison facilities. We also reach out to Native American communities as well as missionaries living in Mexico and elsewhere. Read through this month's outreach and see how you can get involved in making an impact for Christ in our community and throughout the world!

Asociación de Mujeres Manos Unidas de Ayacucho

In the Andes of Peru, five abandoned women weavers from Ayacucho got together to invest in a small business of weaving and embroidering bags and belts. With very little capital to start their business, each one invested $300. Not knowing how to market their products, a door was opened for them to present their products, as a delegation from the Ministry of Commerce and Tourism was visiting Ayacucho. That was the impetus they needed to start exhibiting their goods in Lima, capital of Peru. Their first exhibition was a sell out.

Today the Association of Women – United Hands of Ayacucho, has 30 weavers, and each one focuses on her God given gifts. The association uses only natural dyes, and they work on a per order basis. They have sold bags, belts and shawls in Ayacucho, Cuzco, and Lima, and are developing their brand in order to export their products to the United States and Europe.

The Women at Calvary have purchased an assortment of these bags to sell them as Bible bags. The colorful bags are beautiful, the quality is superb, and the price is right at $30 each. By buying these bags, we will be supporting these abandoned women from Peru, who are determined to build a future for themselves.

For more information or to purchase your bag, please visit the Women's Ministry office or our outreach table located in the HUB before and after our Tuesday Bible studies.
